Spring freeze injury
Tom Zabadal, MSU Horticulture
Home > Scouting guide> spring freeze injury
A spring freeze causes grapevine leaves and shoots to shrivel and turn brown (Below right, similar damage from fall frost). Symptoms appear within a few hours of the episode. Typically shoots will emerge from secondary and tertiary buds over the next three weeks.

The long-term vine health is rarely jeopardized. Severe injury reduces yield. Shoots from secondary buds may produce significant crop.
